Implementation Stories

Solar Cloth thin film photovoltaic panel by Solar-Cloth
Implemented by French Institute for Agronomic Research in Antibes (France) in 2021

The French Institute for Agronomic Research (INRAe) called upon Solar-Cloth in 2021 to install their Solution in one of their greenhouses in the South of France. The implemen- tation consisted of thin film solar panels covering a surface of approximately 50 square meters integrated within foldable shaded curtains. When there is too much solar irradiation within the greenhouse, the shaded curtains deploy themselves and generate energy in addition to creating shadow for the plantation.

Helped to increase the agricultural production by 13%

The environmental benefits

  • 1 square meter = 176Wp, less than 2kg and below 1mm thickness
  • At least 80% of efficiency at 20 year of age
  • Estimated carbon footprint is 15gr of CO2/kWh

The Financial benefits

  • When installed on trucks, the panel avoid immobilisation breakdowns and the cost of an intervention
  • When installed on tents, the panel will allow to not be connected to the electrical grid
  • When installed textile greenhouses, this will allow to create a huge PV parc without the need of an additional structure
