An innovative entrance structure at the Paris-Saint-Denis Olympic Village features 800 m² of ultra-light, flexible photovoltaic panels made in France, using CIGS (copper, indium, gallium, selenide) technology, which is 16 times lighter and 4 times less carbon-intensive than conventional panels. With a 16.5% efficiency, the 80 kWp system generates renewable electricity equivalent to the consumption of 132 flats, while also providing shade and cooling for athletes waiting for buses. The structure, designed for easy reuse at future events, is modular, transportable, and visually appealing, with a wave-shaped roof and "dragon wings" in the Games’ colors. It meets environmental standards, including recycling requirements, and offers a real-time display of solar power generation for athletes.
An 80 kWp solar system has been installed at the entrance of the Olympic Village in Paris-Saint-Denis to reduce the Village's carbon footprint. The panels are rented by the final customer, EDF, and will be reused by the initial customer, Spaciotempo, for various events over the coming years.
Solar Cloth manufacture ultra flexible and thin film (less than 1 mm) solar panels aimed to be installed where other solar panels are not relevant and thus open a new market. It can be fixed on light building, textile areas (shade textile, tents...), trucks and small vehicles, boats, or be foldable and relevant for other usage like in greenhouses.
