Polycrete by WAS Co is a reusable, high-performance formwork panel made entirely from recycled plastic waste. Designed as a sustainable alternative to traditional phenolic plywood, Polycrete offers superior durability, water resistance, and reusability—lasting over 60 uses compared to fewer than 10 for wood-based systems. It is lightweight, easy to cut and install, and compatible with conventional construction systems, reducing labor time and material waste. Polycrete has been validated in large-scale projects, including high-rise buildings, demonstrating better surface finishes and lower environmental impact. By replacing wood panels that are discarded after limited use, Polycrete helps construction companies reduce costs, carbon emissions, and reliance on deforestation-based products. Its production leverages post-industrial plastic waste, aligning with circular economy principles and enabling a regenerative construction model.

The Environmental Benefits

  • One Polycrete panel can be reused over 30 times, while traditional plywood breaks down after just 10–12 uses—saving money and reducing waste.
  • Each Polycrete panel is made from 100% recycled plastic, helping divert up to 30 kg of plastic waste from landfills or incineration.
  • Polycrete formwork requires no chemical release agents, reducing harmful construction site runoff and simplifying the concrete casting process.
  • Each Polycrete panel diverts up to 30 kg of plastic waste from landfills or incineration, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving local waste management systems.
  • Polycrete panels last over 3x longer than traditional plywood formwork and are fully recyclable at end-of-life, enabling closed-loop production and cutting wood and chemical waste by over 70%.

The Financial Benefits

  • Using Polycrete panels saves builders up to 60% in material costs over the project lifecycle compared to traditional plywood formwork.
  • For 15,000 concrete pours, Polycrete costs $40,000 USD, while plywood costs $93,750 USD—a direct savings of $53,750 USD.
