Re-establish damaged marine ecosystems and improve marine biodiversity restoration
Marine biodiversity is under big threat: more than half of coral reefs and seagrass have disappeared since the 20th century and over 40% of the ocean surface shows critical signs. Experts estimate that 1/8 of marine species could have disappeared by 2050 if no action is taken. This solution aims to restore marine biodiversity. By boosting the natural process of habitats decolonisation, it enables marine life to come back. There are many reasons for which marine restoration is urgently needed: boost the coral's colonisation in the environments stressed by climate change or fight against installation and spread of invasive species, ... On top of these rationales, the main benefit of emerging a reef is to support coastal fishing by targeting specific types of fishes and/or to promote tourism.
