Postensa
Monterrey
To improve durability, reusability, and finish quality in formwork, Postensa implemented Polycrete by WAS Co—recycled polypropylene sheets—as a sustainable alternative to conventional phenolic boards in the Torre Rise project, the future tallest tower in Latin America. The solution was tested on retaining walls, slabs, and core walls, showing excellent performance in durability, moisture resistance, ease of demolding, and surface finish. The implementation addressed challenges of frequent board deterioration, poor moisture performance, and high labor costs in cleaning and repairs.
From an environmental impact perspective, the use of 100% recycled polypropylene extends sheet lifespan, reducing board replacement frequency by threefold. Avoided disposal of phenolic wood boards per cycle (approx. 1.2 tons/month). The material's zero water absorption eliminates swelling, enabling longer reuse cycles and reducing reliance on virgin materials. From an economic standpoint, it offers an estimated 25–30% cost savings compared to traditional phenolic formwork, lowers labor costs through easier cleaning and installation, and provides payback within 3–4 reuse cycles, depending on the application.
With a new constructive system, lego type, to reduce construction costs and construction time. We are in the process of applying for several patents of different polymer compounds that we have developed, as well as the new lego-type construction system that we design for the homes we are building. We work based on generating 100% sustainable products, with a short, medium and long term objective, as well as their reuse or recycling after use. For example, the homes we are about to build are based on recycled polymer compounds, with non-toxic minerals and other additives developed by ourselves.
