YVACI, a civil engineering company based in Chihuahua, implemented Contact Formwork technology for constructing industrial warehouse structures in the city. In May 2022, the company placed an order for 200 molds. To produce these molds, WAS Company recycled 10 tons of plastic waste, significantly contributing to environmental sustainability. Additionally, the process saved more than 390 tons of water, demonstrating the ecological benefits of using this innovative construction technology.
The use of contact formwork technology significantly reduces costs, with expenses being divided by five compared to traditional wood formwork. This innovative solution enhances cost-efficiency while maintaining structural integrity.
Polycrete by WAS Co is a reusable, high-performance formwork panel made entirely from recycled plastic waste. Designed as a sustainable alternative to traditional phenolic plywood, Polycrete offers superior durability, water resistance, and reusability—lasting over 60 uses compared to fewer than 10 for wood-based systems. It is lightweight, easy to cut and install, and compatible with conventional construction systems, reducing labor time and material waste. Polycrete has been validated in large-scale projects, including high-rise buildings, demonstrating better surface finishes and lower environmental impact. By replacing wood panels that are discarded after limited use, Polycrete helps construction companies reduce costs, carbon emissions, and reliance on deforestation-based products. Its production leverages post-industrial plastic waste, aligning with circular economy principles and enabling a regenerative construction model.
