Industrial heat accounts for 2/3 of industrial energy demand and 70% is based on fossil fuel, emitting 9 billion tons of CO2/year. Greendur's thermal battery is a highly flexible and multifunctional system, which can use electricity or heat from renewables/grid/waste energy as energy input, to deliver steam and clean heat up to 350º C. With intra-day or day-to-day charging and discharging, this system can facilitate the management of industrial process heat based on intermittently energy sources, offering substantial reduction of CO2 emissions and energy associated costs and a higher energy independency. GREENDUR´s Unique Deeptech Approach based on phase change materials, offers a competitive advantage as compared with sensible heat storage thanks to its higher energy storage capacity and its constant temperature for discharging.
