Through its app, Too Good To Go connects its users with delicious unsold food from a variety of shops and restaurants all over Europe.
For a myriad of reasons, it’s near-impossible for food businesses to know how much surplus they will have at the end of the day, and which items they will be. All the while the issue of food waste is a great challenge in solving the climate crisis. Too Good To Go's innovative and scalable smartphone app acts as a marketplace for this surplus food and connects food suppliers with consumers willing to purchase the food in advance and collect at a specified time. This can range from bakeries that need to bake fresh every day to supermarkets that have groceries that weren’t sold and restaurants that didn’t sell all the food they had catered for that day. Since launching the app in 2016, more than 37.5M meals have been saved, representing up to 77,000 tons of CO2.

Citizens from 17 different countries are willing to buy food at a reduced price by contributing to lower food waste. Since 2016, 152,746 food providers have joined the Too Good To Go community and more than 56 million people have saved food with the application. In total, it is more than 135 millions meals that were saved with a record-breaking of 52 millions in 2021.
