EverCRETE self-healing cement provides longer lasting isolation at underground CO2 storage sites. Those sites are designed for permanent containment of captured CO2, which is pumped down injection wells into porous rock formations up to several kilometers beneath surface. A custom formulation of Portland cement is used in a typical oil, gas or storage well to create an impermeable seal between the rock and steel casing. CO2 injection wells pose an additional challenge because CO2 can prematurely degrade traditional Portland cement. EverCRETE's self-healing formula reacts with CO2 upon contact, allowing the impermeable seal to maintain itself in circumstances that would require repair or replacement of traditional cement formulas at significant cost to the operator.

  • EverCRETE maintained compressive strength under 28 MPa of pressure in CO2 saturated water through the duration of a lab test that caused traditional well cement to fail
  • EverCRETE is rated for in-situ temperatures up to 140 degrees Celsius
