Operating pumps with solar photovoltaic (PV) for agricultural purposes poses challenges. Schneider Electric has however created an autonomous, maintenance-free and environment-friendly Solution through 'speed drives' for pumps with PV arrays. With its experience in speed variation Schneider Electric developed the Altivar 312, a specification to power pumps through PV cells. This allows the traditional challenges of this application to be overcome, making the Altivar a sustainable and efficient Solution for use in agricultural systems. Post labelling information: Please note that a new version of the solution now exists, “Altivar Solar ATV320 Drive”. The Altivar Solar ATV320 drive is an enhanced version of the ATV312 Solar drive. This sustainable drive is robust, simple to commission, and easy to integrate for pumping applications. The drive embeds solar-specific functions (GMPPT, water flow w/o sensor, water meter pulse counter and others…) to address advanced application requirements and improve pump performance. These functions ensure more pump availability while reducing the total system cost.
