Treedom - A website enabling users to plant trees with a click, follow it online while providing environmental and social benefits
Deforestation is clearing Earth's forests on a massive scale, resulting in damage to the quality of the land. Consequences are the loss of habitat, desertification, soil deterioration; more massive amounts of greenhouse gases entering the atmosphere and not reabsorbed; displacement of local communities and their traditional way of life and income sources. In the last decades, we have witnessed how environmental deterioration has had effects on the natural world and social well-being. Treedom decided to take concrete action by focusing on the deforestation and mismanagement of forest systems in rural communities. Treedom tackle as well the lack of funding opportunities preventing small farmers to engage in agroforestry activities, the loss of biodiversity and the information bias that discourages donors from financing initiatives managed by rural communities. Treedom is an innovative web platform that allows its users to plant a tree at a distance and track it online providing economic and social benefit for rural communities while creating an engaging and viable CSR tool. Since its founding in 2010, Treedom has introduced innovation and transparency within an industry still tied to the old charity concept, succeeding in transforming good action into a modern communication and engagement tool. Treedom is an innovative, transparent and versatile engaging solution.
