Dryad Silvanet - Ultra-early detection system of wildfires including sensors, wireless network and analytics platform.

Dryad Silvanet allows to reduce dramatically the reaction time and enables firefighters to extinguish a fire before it spreads out of control. The wireless sensors are solar powered, measuring temperature, humidity and air pressure. Thanks to it sensitive gas sensors, it can detect wildfires even during the smoldering phase. Dryad aims to help protect the world’s largest carbon sink and home for 3/4 of all biodiversity globally. It addresses deforestation and emissions from forest fires which contribute up to 20% of the global CO2 emissions. Dryad will also mitigate the economic damage caused by wildfires, estimated to be at $140bn per year, tapping into a substantial market potential with insurances, forest owners and governments.

Key features

  • Capable of detecting wildfires during the first 60 minutes, dramatically reducing reaction time
  • Maintenance free operation of up to 15 years at zero energy costs
  • Large-scale network infrastructure enabling wireless communication for IOT sensors in ultra-remote remote areas of the forest
  • Reducing CO2 emissions from wildfires, representing up to 20% of global CO2 emissions (projected net 864,000 tons CO2 savings by 2025 increasing to 10m tons by 2030)
  • Protection of biodiversity, with forests representing 3/4 of global biodiversity
  • Reducing respiratory illnesses and eye irritations caused by forest fires and associated haze

Profitability

  • Protection against economic loss caused by wildfires, representing $140bn annually on a global basis
  • Prevention of direct firefighting costs estimated at $5bn annually on a global basis
  • Less than 3 years payback time compared to wildfire insurance
