CO2 for cooling water - Safe and environmental friendly scaling control in cooling water with CO2 as replacement of sulfuric and chloridric acids.

A great alternative to the use of mineral acids is CO2, which exhibits none of the drawbacks of sulfuric and chloridric acids. Moreover, the carbon footprint of the solution will be lowered by avoiding the manufacturing of strong acids combined to the sequestration of part of the CO2 as bicarbonate ions.

Key features

  • 100% corrosion risk free with CO2 for cooling water.
  • 100% reduced emissions on acid mineral salt byproducts with CO2 for cooling water.
  • Avoided emissions of 113 teq CO2 in one year for the first project.
  • Avoided emissions of 104 t SO4 salts in one year for the first project.
  • Avoided corrosion and replacement of acid storage tanks (30t acid tank in double wall steel).

Profitability

  • 100,000 € savings with acid in an interval of 10 years.
  • 100,000 € savings with services and maintenance in an interval of 10 years.
  • 10,000 € CAPEX savings with acid storage tank purchase every 3 years.
