Identification

The TERRAPOD is a developed, sustainable & profitable concrete free foundation & floor system for the construction sector. Concrete has served us well for the last century and since world war 2 with the invention of steel reinforced concrete, it has become the most used material in the world. Concrete’s impact on the environment has only come into focus in recent years and its only now we realize an alternative is urgently required due to unfolding climate crisis. Concrete alone, produces 8-11% of the world’s carbon dioxide emissions. Japan is one of the most seismic active regions in the world, over the centuries the Japanese developed the Ishiba-tate building technique (post and beam timber-frame which sits on stone foundations) designed to withstand earthquakes. The Terratonics system takes this ancient Japanese style foundation system "Ishiba-tate" into the 21st century, creating a fast, affordable and sustainable building system
