A semi-submersible floating system providing access to offshore winds in deep maritime areas

Gallery STAR 1

STAR is a semi-submersible floating system for floating offshore wind. Floating offshore wind turbines harness the energy of offshore winds in deep maritime areas farther from the coast, which are powerful and constant. Unlike fixed-foundation wind turbines that are supported by a base, which is directly set on the seabed using a gravity foundation, this Solution is based on a floating structure in concrete, steel or a steel/concrete hybrid combination fixed to the seabed by an anchoring system that controls its movements. Compared to fixed-foundation wind turbines, this innovative technology overcomes the constraints of deep-water installation and is able to produce renewable energy farther from the coast with a low visual impact. The Solution is designed to be competitive, produced in series and easily operated. It can be adapted to the specificities of the operating site and local industrial ecosystems.
