Developing facilities to produce renewable fuels for use by air, ground and marine vessels
The climate challenge for aviation is worse than expected. Without any change, airplane emissions of CO2, having reached over 900 million metric tons in 2018, will triple by 2050. While other transportation modes can electrify, commercial aviation does not have the ability due to weight and flight ranges. The best option is to adopt drop-in sustainable aviation fuels (SAFs). Technologies for the production of SAF have matured and allow to now implement location-appropriate solutions on a broad scale to supply airlines. With a background in wind, solar, and clean transmission project development, the Refuel team is advancing a project to bring low-cost, sustainable, and community-building renewable fuels to aviation at commercial scale by 2024. This solution brings together the most efficient technology using societal waste streams as renewable feedstock. To date, Refuel the Future has already three projects on their roadmap and welcomes interested partners and investors.
