Description

Apollo Power's innovative solar rooftop project at the Tel Aviv Velodrome showcases our ability to meet stringent design and engineering requirements. Tasked with keeping the entire system load below 4 kg/m², as requested by the Tel Aviv Municipality and construction engineers, we implemented our ultra-lightweight solar modules. These panels, weighing just 2.8 kg/m², allowed us to stay well within the weight constraints without compromising performance: the low system weight enabled us to integrate power optimizers into the design, ensuring maximum output. Our solution's lightweight, flexible nature minimized the need for structural reinforcements, preserving the unique architecture of the Velodrome. This project highlights Apollo Power's expertise in providing tailored solar solutions for complex installations, unlocking renewable energy potential even on buildings with strict load-bearing limitations.

Impact & Result

The Velodrome solar project achieves substantial environmental and economic benefits. Annually, it prevents several tons of CO₂ emissions and reduces material and waste impact by using lightweight, glass-free modules. Economically, the system delivers significant monthly energy cost savings, with a payback time of under 6 years and an attractive ROI, demonstrating the financial and environmental advantages of Apollo’s lightweight solar solution.

Solution Spotlight

Apollo Power’s solar rooftop solution is based on the company's fully flexible solar cell proprietary technology. Unlike conventional rigid modules, our ultra-lightweight panels (2.8 kg/m²) are adaptable to various roof types, including those with low load-bearing capacity, and curved, or non-standard designs. Apollo's fully flexible solar cell technology offers extreme durability and safety to eliminate fire risk and ensure long-term efficiency and optimal performance without compromising roof integrity. The unique design minimizes weight stress, reduces installation complexity, and eliminates the need for heavy mounting systems. Engineered for efficiency and resilience, Apollo's panels are ideal for commercial and industrial buildings, warehouses, sports halls, and greenhouses, as well as for old and historic buildings or curved roofs. This innovative approach to solar energy opens new possibilities for structures previously considered unsuitable for solar deployment.
