Description

Easyjet has adopted SkyBreathe® to reduce their fleet’s fuel burn, and CO2 emissions. The Solution, implemented by Air France in July 2020, is an innovative eco-flying Solution developed by OpenAirlines. It is based on Cloud, Artificial Intelligence and Big Data enabling airlines to save fuel and reduce their carbon footprint by up to 5%. The adoption of SkyBreathe® will enable airlines to identify where improvements can be made, and play an important role in reducing their carbon emissions with immediate and concrete results. Under the agreement, the fuel management software will automatically collect and analyze the data from the 300+ aircraft operated by easyJet and combine them with data from other sources, including payload, weather conditions, maintenance, flight paths, and Air Traffic Control.

Impact & Result

Today, SkyBreathe® is the most widely used eco-flying solution in the world. Its active community federates more than 50 airlines across the planet, including Air France, Norwegian, IndiGo, flydubai, and Atlas Air. In 2019, its customers saved more than 590,000 tons of CO2 and 150 million USD.

Solution Spotlight

Using Big Data algorithms to analyze a large quantity of data on each flight – pulling in information gathered from black box data recorders, weather and airline traffic - in order to detect maneuvers or best practices that airlines and pilots could implement to improve fuel efficiency. By providing KPIs, reports, dashboards and individual pilot briefing and debriefing tools, airlines can implement a fuel saving plan to reduce fuel consumption by some 2-5% without any modification to the aircraft.
