Howe Farming
Walkamin
We approached a motivated Banana Grower in North Queensland who is eager to explore end-to-end solutions for their escalating plastic problem and fuel sovereignty on farm with a proposal to conduct a real world pilot of our waste to energy solutions. They offered us a covered site, power supply, plastic feedstock and financial support to test the fuels we produced. We began with batch runs of their different plastic bunch covers and produced fuels tested by InterTek, a NATA accredited laboratory which returned positive results. Following the successful fuel results, they began using the fuels on the farm. We are currently conducting continuous feed operations to confirm throughput volumes of the unit. These metrics will be evaluated against their costings and environmental benefits to determine the impact balance. We anticipate positive results which will lead to commissioning and operator training of our first unit as exclusive distributors and transfer of EPA permit to operate
Environmental and economic drivers are connected in that each unit reduces 238 tons of CO2 annually @ $20.00/ton, and diverts 150 000kgs of plastics from landfill @ $250/ton, producing 130 000 liters of fuel @ $1.50 per liter and uses 5.5 kwh per hour @ $0.65 per hour. The numbers from The Banana Growers Association indicate the sector as a whole would require 200 units to effectively manage the plastic they consume. This multiplies the environment impact from 1 unit by 200.
Post consumer plastics hold no value, and due to a lack of available solutions, accumulate or are discarded and ignored by communities in remote environments. We are able to access these remote coastal communities with our landing barge that is equipped with technologies to process plastics into fuels and building materials. This creates a unique value for plastic's. Without discrimination, this enables whole communities to collect and trade plastics with us for the safe water access and health solutions we provide. The plastics are weighed and turned to fuel for our ship’s operations, or upcycled into useful items like buckets, water tanks, or building materials. Target communities are thus incentivised to ‘earn’ their own permanent safe water solutions and continued health care with village intern training, by cleaning their environments of plastics. Our solution is funded through the distribution of pyrolysis units to clients in Australia, eager to solve their plastic problem.
