Leroy Merlin
Paris
Leroy Merlin, one of the leading DIY retail companies in Europe, utilizes the web platform Opalean to manage its packaging flows with enhanced reliability and efficiency across its entire distribution network. This robust platform supports the management of approximately 2.5 million loading operations annually, spanning across 12 warehouses, 141 stores, and 70 carriers. By integrating OPATRACE into its logistics operations, Leroy Merlin gains real-time visibility and control over its packaging processes, allowing for optimized tracking, improved accuracy, and streamlined operations. The platform’s advanced capabilities contribute to reducing waste, improving decision-making, and driving operational efficiencies, all of which align with Leroy Merlin’s broader sustainability and cost-reduction goals.
The solution helps reduce its carbon footprint by significantly decreasing the need for purchasing new pallets, which lowers the demand for raw materials and the energy consumption associated with their production.
Today, nearly 500 million Euro pallets circulate around the world. But with a loss rate of 10 to 15% – the result of operating in silos and a lack of communication between Supply Chain professionals – this represents a real disaster in economic and environmental terms. Opatrace helps to increase the quantity and quality of recycled and available Euro-pallets, so that the logistics actors are not only using them ... but that they reuse more and better! How? The collaborative platform provides real-time visibility of pallet flows, allowing better restitution, fewer purchases and less waste. By aggregating information, the solution helps supply chain professionals to reduce their losses of wooden pallets and to promote the circular economy of packaging ... While also reducing costs associated with the management and transport of load carriers (less CO2 emissions). From the supplier to the consignee, through the carrier, the whole chain benefits from productivity gains, but also a better management of reverse packaging. By recovering 100% of reusable wooden pallets, we do limit the purchase of new ones and preserve the natural resource and indirectly combat deforestation
