The Green Rangers
Amstelveen
Built on Waste, Designed for Impact At ‘The Garden’ office complex in Amstelveen—home to Nestlé and Ford—the original rooftop courtyard failed due to poor drainage and sand-based construction. Flooding and maintenance costs piled up. After stripping it down to the roof deck, the entire new garden was built directly on CE Green City panels—engineered from recycled tires. Installed by The Green Rangers, the result is a durable, storm-resilient rooftop that turns local waste into functional green infrastructure.
At The Garden in Amstelveen, 10 tons of scrap tires were upcycled into CE Green City panels, avoiding ~9.2 tCO₂-eq emissions and replacing virgin materials. The storm-resilient system eliminates flooding and costly repairs, cutting maintenance to near zero. With a lifespan of 75+ years, it pays back in 5 years, delivering lasting environmental and economic value.
CEYES has designed a new water retaining system for the roof, the RPR retention panel. Made of recycled tires rubber granulate from worn artificial grass fields, CEYES panels have increased the lifespan of the retaining system and reduced the kg CO2-eq/m2. The design aims to reduce the CO2 footprint of the average market product, made of waste HPDE, polyethylene and polypropylene.
