The City of Fontenay-sous-Bois called upon Kermap to get a high resolution mapping of the whole city’s green infrastructure in public and private premises in 2020. The Solution was used to get a detailed mapping of the city’s local climate zones (LCZ) based on the vegetation mapping and urban morphological characteristics, cross-referenced with satellite thermography in order to identify urban heat islands. Overall, the green infrastructure mapping has been used frequently since its delivery and has become a reference data source for the city and for its providers for instance in land planning studies or landscaping.
These services consist of: (1) evaluation of the greening policies of cities, (2) modelling of climate and environmental impacts of current and future urban development. (3) providing information on the quality of life and the environment to support master plan updates. The innovation is to offer a suite of top-of-the-shelf product available for any city in the world. Users will be able to purchase the products by a one-shot contract or by a subscription through the marketplaces of the leader geographic information system (GIS) software.
