Description

The project involved a collaboration between The Green Village (a field-lab location), Woon Friesland (a social housing association with approximately 21,000 homes), Bouwgroep Dijkstra Draaisma (a construction company), Bewonersraad Friesland (representatives of the residents of the houses of Woon Friesland) and Hamwells. The latter installed a Blue 16 unit connected according to a system B, at The Green Village location in a 2-person household at the faculty of the Technical University of Delft in November 2021. The unit equipped with sensors aimed to provide more insights on its actual performance.

Impact & Result

By harnessing 1.1 kWh of recovered energy over a seven-week period, overall energy consumption was reduced, contributing to sustainability efforts by making effective use of energy that would otherwise go to waste. This approach supports a more efficient and eco-friendly energy management strategy.

Solution Spotlight

The Blue shower systems use the heat of the shower wastewater to preheat the cold water supply. By doing this, the demand for hot water drops significantly, which means a lower energy consumption. In turn this allows for a smaller hot water system, reducing the installation costs of the complete installation. The energy performance of the building will improve considerably and less CO2 will be emitted. The Blue has been specifically developed for multi-storey construction and renovation projects where the highest possible efficiency must be achieved on one floor. Therefore the Blue is the ideal fit for: - apartment buildings - hotels - care centers - sport clubs - holiday parks - town houses - etc.
