Identification
The deployment of solar panels is growing at a rapid pace while cost is coming down even faster. This price pressure has challenged the design of conventional backsheets to its limits. To meet the future requirements of the industry such as ongoing cost reduction, installations in more harsh conditions and the shift to a more circular economy, it is time to rethink the backsheet design.
Using a single-step co-extrusion manufacturing process and a strong polyolefin core, the highly robust DSM Endurance backsheet has been created, a backsheet that can protect solar panels under the most harsh weather conditions while at the same time eliminating the need for using expensive and hazardous fluoropolymers as well as solvent based adhesives. Because of its thermoplastic nature and balanced material selection this backsheet is fully recyclable. Using Endurance backsheet today will significantly reduce the environmental impact now and in 25 years.
