The DesignPro Renewables hydrokinetic turbine harnesses the kinetic energy from flowing water found in rivers and estuaries. The unique concept of this device exploits the natural phenomenon that occurs when flowing water comes into contact with an object or obstruction. By using such an obstacle as part of our design, water is compressed and accelerates as it is diverted out and around the body. The compact design makes it simple and cost-effective to deploy without major civil works with installation times as short as 3 hours for a 25kW system. The device is floating and not permanently fixed so it can be moved easily if required. The platform gives access to the turbines, which can be lifted out of the water for maintenance without having to remove the device.
