Identification

TVP's pioneering solar technology drives a high-end product that generates hot water/ steam at 80C - 180C temperatures to power industrial processes and district heating networks. The super-performing flat collectors, integrate patented high-vacuum technology to produce heat throughout the year in most climatic conditions and geographies at the same cost as natural gas and cheaper than liquid fossil fuels. Thanks to this high-vacuum technology TVP's flat panels exhibit minimal thermal losses, no degradation over time, and thus exceptional efficiency. Without the need for cleaning and only minimal maintenance TVP's 100% recyclable solar collectors can operate for 25 years to deliver emission-free thermal energy. Existing clients include: Masdar (UAE), Saudi Aramco (KSA), Sulaibiya (Kuwait), Ras Al Khaimah (UAE), Hefei (China), Boekel (NL), Martin & Rossi (Italy), Larnaudie (France), SIG/ Le Lignon (CH).

Implementation Stories

Solar Thermal Decarbonization by TVP SOLAR
Implemented by PepsiCo in Sete Lagoas (Brazil) in 2022

US beverage and food company PepsiCo has installed a solar thermal plant to heat process water at its Sete Lagoas snacks factory in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. The installation consists of high-vacuum solar thermal flat panels supplied by Swiss company TVP Solar. PepsiCo said that the solar thermal system allowed it to reduce natural gas usage in the unit by 140,000 cubic metres.

Result

PepsiCo's solar thermal system reduced natural gas usage by 140,000 cubic meters, resulting in a decrease of 280 tonnes in greenhouse gas emissions.

The environmental benefits

  • TVP provides turn-key installations of solar heating and cooling systems for industrial process applications (including water treatment) and district heating/ cooling
  • Produce over 2 kWh/m²/day of thermal energy to replace fossil fuels - this cuts about 0.2 ton/m²/year of CO2
  • Compared to natural gas or liquid fossil fuels TVP solar systems, TVP eliminates the production of CO2 emissions (-100%) during their 25 years of expected operation
  • Generates on average 800kWh/m2/year thermal energy directly from the sun and substitute the equivalent of 104m3 Natural Gas/m2/year

The Financial benefits

  • Can offer a payback as low as 4-10 years with a minimal OPEX for 25 years
  • Can reduce energy bills for heat production by as high as 40%
