RPET Honeycomb core technology - Technology for the cost effective and continuous production of honeycomb cores and sandwich panels based on 95% recycled post-consumer waste.

Sandwich panels are a very efficient structures, delivering high level of mechanical performance at extremely low weight and are being used in a wide range of applications. Amongst them, honeycomb has been the most efficient in terms of mechanical performance to weight ratio. Recycled honeycomb cores is seeking for replacement of foam cores and the total addressable market for RPET honeycomb is very large. EconCore has developed a continuous manufacturing process that can produce thermoformable, high-performance panels with a thermoplastic core made out of 95 % of recycled PET, in a cost-effective way. This recycling of plastic bottles is an important step forward in the pursuit of sustainability, as waste can be converted into performance-to-weight-optimized honeycomb structures. With the RPET honeycomb core, EconCore sees opportunities in many applications such as the automotive market where weight reduction becomes crucial to reduce CO2 emissions with sustainable resources and lightweight cost-efficient solutions. Also, other markets, including industrial packaging and transportation, have interesting applications where this material can be an excellent fit. The use of RPET honeycomb cores gives a sustainable solution with a good Life Cycle Assessment and low carbon footprint which fits the world-wide sustainability strategy.
