Emission is an NUE (Nitrogen Utilization Efficiency) sensor system to quantify the volume of lost ammonia nitrogen during application of slurry.

More than 1.4 million ton of nitrogen is lost every year form the use of animal slurry. This has a socialtal cost of +48 billion Euro. It is one of the world’s largest greenhouse gas emission contributions, air pollutant and sources of lost biodiversity. e-missioN sensor system is a solution that delivers information for a database to translate slurry- and climate variations into an accurate nitrogen emission loss assessment during slurry application. This enables significantly improved management decisions for following mineral nitrogen application dosage rates. The result is improved yields and savings on use of mineral fertilizers. e-missioN creates exceptional sustainability in avoided greenhouse gasses, air pollution and eutrophication.

The environmental benefits

  • 1 emissioN system can reduce use of 20 ton of nitrogen equivalent to 114 ton of CO2e.
  • Accurate fertilization dosage rates enables 10 % higher yield, estimated to be 32.000 € pr. year.
  • Identification of GPS position- and need for variable rate application further reduces need for nitrogen fertilizers and enables higher yield. The combined effect is +100.000 € pr. year and with a significant reduction in loss of biodiversity.
  • Up to 20 % reduction in use of mineral fertilizer through improved use of organic fertilizer
  • Reduced P.M 2.5 air pollution because of reduced ammonia emission
  • 10 % reduction in leaching of nitrogen
