Sign upA software to optimize and facilitate the planning of urban energy systems
Sympheny is a software to support the planning of sustainable energy systems for neighbourhoods, districts, and cities. Sympheny finds the optimal energy systems for any given site: its outputs are the combination of technology which deliver the lowest amount of CO2 for the lowest life-cycle costs. Sympheny’s powerful algorithms swift through thousands of solutions to find the optimal ones and do not just consider a few handpicked solutions, as is the case when using the standard spreadsheet approach. Sympheny’s powerful algorithms also allow to integrate renewable energy sources in a reliable way, even though these rely on more interconnected, hence on more complex systems, which is not well mapped with the current spreadsheet approach. With Sympheny, the stakeholders directly have the quantitative data they need for taking the informed decisions.
Sympheny by Urban Sympheny AG
Implemented by IBC Energie Wasser Chur in Dübendorf (Switzerland) in 2020
EnergieWasser Chur (IBC) and Elimes collaborated with Sympheny on a strategy to develop the future energy system of the City of Chur. The goal was to determine which technologies and which renewable energy sources would be best suited to supply the city. The system could directly compare the cost of the energy systems with the generated emissions and helped to quantify, in an early step and at a large scale, the amount as well as the type of investment required for a net-zero energy system.
