The Sun-Ways solution is designed to take advantage of the unused space between railroad tracks to place removable solar power plants. The technique used is based on a patent and allows for the safe passage of trains and all maintenance work on the railway infrastructure. In contrast to large-scale ground installations, Sun-Ways makes use of already constructed surfaces, without visual or environmental impact. In addition, its mechanized installation process requires little manpower and offers high installation capacities, up to 1,000 m2 per day.

The Environmental Benefits

  • Switzerland has 5'000 km of railroad tracks on which it is possible to install removable solar power plants with a total power of 1000 MW, i.e. 30% of all currently installed power in Switzerland
  • With an output of 900 GWh, Sun-Ways solar power plants can cover 30% of the electricity needs of all public transport in Switzerland
  • 180'000 tCO2 reduction for 5'000 km of rails
  • No visual impact

The Financial Benefits

  • Installation 10 times faster for specialized staff
