The quantity of wastewater sludge generated is expected to increase significantly by 2040. The management of wastewater sludge poses economic planning and environmental challenges. Traditional methods of dewatering involve significant operational costs, produce large volumes of carbon and require the addition of chemicals.

Premier Base has developed an approach to dewatering municipal wastewater sludge for small WWTP's that involves no energy or chemicals. The product receives secondary sludge in the range of 0.8% to 1% DS and dewaters to a range of 7% to 10% (ranges of 30%/40% can also be achieved). The Product A concrete tank*: unit dimensions 1m in-depth, 3m in width and 8m in length. Sludge Drying Beds may be used for dewatering sludge well digested by means of either anaerobic or aerobic processes. The Sludge Drying Beds does not require any coagulants instead utilizing heat, gravitational forces and the sloping floor to dry the sludge resulting in significantly reduces operational costs of the wastewater treatment plants, a reduction in dried sludge volume and hence a reduction in transport and disposal costs.
