From Hungary
Maturity stage TRL 6 / 7 - Prototype demonstration 1:1

MASUKO additive creates an endlessly reusable path to all otherwise non-reusable solid waste materials that can be shredded to small pieces and mixed into a novel Waste Light Concrete (see Wiki). Potential raw materials: polystyrene, rubber, IBA, polyfoam, motherboards, car parts, crops, sawdust. MASUKO complies with EU's Green Agreement! We use the traditional concrete mixing process, so MASUKO's scalability is very high, clients already have the equipment to mix WLC. We replace 100% of sand/gravel in the concrete mix with otherwise non-recyclable mixed solid waste. MASUKO helps save environmental damages of mining sites and decreases the volume of permanent environment damaging landfill load beyond any other known technology. The final WLC product is soft enough to be shredded again and again, it creates a sustainable recycling path that decreases future need for mining new natural resources, by being locally reusable it decreases the costs and environment damage of transportation.

The Environmental Benefits

  • Waste light concrete is endlessly reusable and can have a compressive strength of 3-12 MPa, block fire and heat and weigh between 400-1400 kg/m3
  • 1 km of 2x2 highway supporting layer of 30cm can recycle 4.000t of otherwise non-recyclable solid (plastic...) waste, by using existing construction technologies, the highest volume-to-result ratio
  • Can handle waste types that always go (and will go) to landfill and have no other way of processing, which amounts to 30-40% of total solid waste
  • 100% use of otherwise non-recyclable solid mixed waste and preventing ecological damages from mining operations for the same volume

The Financial Benefits

  • 100% reusable by shredding and re-mixing, no need to buy and transport large volumes of natural resources
  • Can cost 10% less than conventional light concrete and durability is expected to be 20% higher
  • Cheapest method of recycling for end-users, 0 investment is needed
