A packaging weight reduction solution for jerry cans
A large end-users group is in need of oil based solutions because alternative solutions are not sufficient or cost effective for them. They search for regular supply of fuel and buy pre-filled cans. These cans need to meet safety requirements for transportation, storage and usage while answering cost conscious expectations. Polymer (HDPE) is the best material to meet all requirements on the packaging of the fuel. To meet this requirement as well as reducing the impact on the environment, PVG developed a greener packaging process. Indeed, RPET is now used as the raw material for the cans and the reviewed design allows to reduce packaging material by 60%. Moreover, it enables to transport 15% more cans on one pallet and thus reducing the number of trucks needed to provide fuels to the customer.
