The Water Intelligence Platform Solution was used by property management services company Vebego AG in 2021 in a shopping centre in Switzerland for seven months. The aim was to optimise cleaning and detect and locate leaks. The continuous monitoring system made it possible to identify daily usage profiles and thus detect drops or rises in activity in real time. This means that unnecessary cleaning can be avoided or, conversely, intensified during periods of high activity. It also allows leaks to be spotted quickly, reducing repair times.
During the test period, cleaning checks were reduced by 50%, cleaning-related operating expenses by 25% and two leaks were detected quickly enough to multiply water savings by three. Potential water savings were estimated at 7.5% of total consumption per year. After seven months, Vebego AG has decided to extend the use of the Solution to other shopping centres.
Today, more than 100 billion water assets remain offline, leaving vendors and operators blind to their performance (uptime, downtime, output, frequency of use, flow time, etc.), maintenance needs, and consumable replenishment. This lack of visibility leads to inefficiencies such as unplanned maintenance (30%), energy waste (20%), and financial impairment from water damage (over CHF 30 billion worldwide annually). Droople offers a full-stack IoT platform that combines patented edge devices (Droople iLink®), machine learning algorithms, and a modular platform. This system enables real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and automated consumable procurement. Droople retrofits existing water endpoints with sensors, providing valuable data on usage, performance, and maintenance needs. This unique approach, summarised as "Understand, Value, Manage," empowers stakeholders to reduce operational costs, extend asset lifetimes, and drive water-energy savings.
