Description

“de Alliantie”, a housing association in Amsterdam, called upon Sanura to supply and install 97 Flatmates in its social housing. After 3 months of use, all participants were asked to rate the Solution (result: 7.4/10) and the Company (result: 8.7/10). Measurements showed that energy consumption in the shower decreased by approximately 32%. The installation provided for this project has an estimated product lifetime of 15 years.

Impact & Result

- Achieved a reduction in electricity costs totaling 190,000 units over 15 years.
- Eliminated 180,000 kilograms of CO2 emissions annually over 15 years.

Solution Spotlight

A lot of energy is wasted in showers. Valuable hot water is used for only seconds and is then drained into the sewer. By using a shower heat exchanger, heat can be recovered from the drain water and reused to pre-heat the incoming cold water. This results in significant energy savings and reduced carbon emissions. Current shower heat exchangers are integrated into the shower floor or wall, requiring breaking and plumbing work. Especially in existing showers/bathrooms, breaking and plumbing lead to significant implementation costs and hinder large-scale adoption of heat exchanger systems. Sanura developed the Flatmate, a shower heat exchanger that can be easily installed on top of the existing shower floor and connected to a standard shower faucet, without any breaking or plumbing work. By eliminating implementation costs, the Flatmate is the most cost-effective heat exchanger solution for existing showers/bathrooms.
