World Food Program and the Nutricash project

The case was implemented in WestNile, Uganda by Umuntu Agrobiotics in collaboration with Agrigate Company Limited, United Nation World Food Programme, and Innovation village under the Nutri-Cash/THRIVE project. 1,000 litres of Bio-blend were purchased and donated to 2 farmer groups consisting of over 30 farmers per group to apply in their plots under tomato, cabbage, Sukuma wiki and collard production.
Farmers increased their crop yield by averagely 56.2% and some reported a 104.8 increase in yield when cow dung was mixed with Bio-blend. There was 100% no chemical use for the entire production season Soil organic carbon increased from 2.7% to 4.5% on average.
Bio-Blend is a microbial solution from Bacillus species origin. The product comes in liquid and powder form and are both carried in locally sourced materials. Each ml of the liquid contains at least 4x10^9 colony-forming unit (CFU) and each gram contains at least 4x10^9 CFU. Our current application rates are 20 L of liquid and 3 Kgs of the powder per acre per season. Each litre of the liquid is mixed into 20 litres of water and applied in the plant root zone using a watering can.
