ADEO is partnering with the Solar Impulse Foundation for the Positive Home Challenge (PHC) to identify consumer products with a reduced environmental footprint. In 2022, after partnering with Tiamat on battery management, ADEO introduced Tiamat’s sodium-ion cells solution to the SIF through the PHC. This collaboration led to the development and commercialization of the first power tool powered by a sodium-ion battery: a 3.6V screwdriver. Launched as a proof of concept in 2023, a full range will soon be available at Leroy Merlin stores.
These advanced batteries are more durable, lasting up to 5,000 charging cycles compared to 1,000 cycles for traditional lithium batteries, and can recharge as much as 10 times faster, in just 10 minutes.
Limiting the impact of our products is the challenge we have set at ADEO. By working with Tiamat, we are able to offer inhabitants an efficient, more ecological and cost-effective solution. We share with the Solar Impulse Foundation the conviction that it is by making this new type of product affordable that we will maximise our impact!
ADEO,
Tiamat's Na-ion power battery cell is responding to unsatisfied power needs thanks to its unique and patented Na-based active raw material. Offering superior safety compared to reference technologies, Tiamat's battery cell is also offering a long cycle life. These features allow (for example) automotive makers to reach CO2 emission targets by hybridising their Internal Combustion Engine vehicles with low voltage cost effective solutions. Using Tiamat's Na-ion cell allows better CO2 reductions by taking advantage of the unmatched high power offered by this technology. Finally, using a widely available raw material in Europe cuts the need to use rare earth minerals mined and shipped from many thousands of miles away, not only reducing emissions but increasing resource security.
