Toyota has adopted an innovative approach to producing, storing, and supplying low-carbon energy for its light-duty vehicle fleet and ‘inclusive mobility park’ during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. This includes the H2Gremm stations at Grenelle, supporting a fleet of 50 hydrogen bicycles; Champ de Mars, powering two hydrogen forklifts; and Golf Saint Quentin, operating one hydrogen forklift. Utilizing the Quokka system, which recovers water from the fuel cell in the forklift, 11 liters of water can generate 10 kg of hydrogen within a closed-loop system, achieving a 90% water savings compared to conventional hydrogen distribution methods.
The Grenelle station supports a fleet of 50 hydrogen bikes, replacing 50 electric bikes and 100 batteries, resulting in a CO₂ reduction of 1.5 tons while enabling refueling in just one minute for a 100 km range. The Champ de Mars station operates two hydrogen forklifts, replacing four electric forklifts, with a return on investment (ROI) of under one year and a refueling time of three minutes for six hours of operation. Similarly, the Golf Saint Quentin station powers a single hydrogen forklift, replacing two electric forklifts, with the same ROI and refueling efficiency.
H2Gremm innovates by offering local hydrogen micro-stations, eliminating the logistics of hydrogen delivery and thus reducing the cost and its carbon impact. Its electrochemical compression technology reduces energy consumption by 50% and divides maintenance costs by 10 compared to mechanical compressors. Thanks to this approach, H2Gremm offers competitive hydrogen at €10/kg.H2, while making the installations modular, quick to deploy and adapted to the specific needs of users.
