The urban agglomeration of Bocage Bressuirais, home to more than 70,000 inhabitants, has installed the solution in May 2022. The implementation aimed to prevent overflowing with sludges in the Mauleon Waste station (Deux-Sèvres-France). A day of work was required to put in place the circular wing to enable inside-currents in a clarifier to follow a parabolic curve. In this way, sludge is constantly moving as opposed to being maintained in suspension. Mr Jaulin (owner of the Waste treatment Plant) wrote: "Hello, as seen with Mr Galichet this morning, the behavior of the SpeedOClare gives us complete satisfaction. Following the bad weather of 23/05 we passed 1811m3/d in the station, and 1366 m3/d on 03/06, which corresponds to an excellent result considering that we did not pass more than 800 m3/d before. A quick update after a month of operation: Recirculation at only 50% instead of 200%, so energy savings of more than half on the pumps, no departure of sludge, goal is reached. "
Traditionally clarifiers are equipped with a Clifford (cylindrical skirt). The currents are directed towards the bottom and have a circular shape in which sludge is captured as a cloud. So that, sludge is spread and it is difficult to gather it and recycle to the aerated tank. Speed-O-Clar is a custom-made HDPE retrofit device improving primary or secondary clarifier performance. A cone shaped piece of equipment, installed at the inlet of circular clarifiers, directs influent onto a baffled plate, changing the direction of flow within the clarifier. This creates a centripetal flow at the bottom which make them more efficient and enhance the limit flow rate.
