Description

The city of Bratislava in Slovakia has adopted the Sensoneo Smart Waste Management solution to enhance waste collection processes. Supported by a grant from the European Innovation Council in 2020, this initiative focuses on the digitalization of waste management and improving collection efficiency. Set to be completed by April 2022, the project aims to create cleaner public spaces, reduce waste collection mileage and emissions, and enable proactive management of overfilled containers. As a global first, this deployment underscores Bratislava’s leadership in smart waste management, promoting urban cleanliness and operational efficiency. The city has selected 1,753 bins to be monitored with Sensoneo sensors, which will not only track waste production but also optimize collection routes for the shortest mileage and maximum vehicle capacity utilization on their return to the depot.

Impact & Result

Waste collection vehicles fitted with Sensoneo's WatchDog automatically digitize all activities during the collection process. Sensoneo's Route Optimization minimizes unnecessary routing by targeting the shortest possible mileage, while also maximizing vehicle capacity utilization on the return to the depot.
