City of Horsens
Horsens
In December 2020, the City of Horsens in Denmark sold two tons of wood waste to BurntWood, the owner of the innovative solution. The wood waste was then transformed into 137 panels, each weighing between 13 and 14 kg. These panels were later sold back to the city and used in the renovation of the recycling station's facade. This process not only supported the local circular economy but also helped reduce waste and promote sustainable building practices.
By upcycling 2 tons of wood instead of using new wood, nearly 3 tons of CO₂ are effectively stored. This process not only reduces the demand for new timber but also significantly contributes to carbon sequestration.
ReWood aims at reducing the amount of virgin wood, which is being used in the construction industry, one of the top consumer of raw materials. By taking wood from recycling factories and impregnating it to make it last longer, ReWood innovative process make it possible to transform it into facades and acoustic panels. By burning the wood slightly, it becomes resistant to humidity and can last for more than 50 years. Highly versatile, ReWood delivers a solution to architects interested in making new buildings with a nordic look while using local and sustainable materials.
