story image

Description

For over 20 years, the City of Zurich has demonstrated the impact of continuous optimization in urban cleanliness management. By reducing resources by 10% each year, Zurich has achieved the same cleanliness levels with three times fewer resources, thanks to the compounding effect over time. While our original application for the Clean City label included a projection based on compounded annual savings, the current analysis focuses on real-world data from our 2025 client base, with non-compounded annual calculations. Using the same methodological framework, we estimate the following environmental benefits for the year 2025 alone: • Direct CO₂ emissions reduction: 2,700 tonnes • Grey energy CO₂ savings from reduced fleet requirements: 2,800 tonnes These figures reflect measurable impact achieved through optimized use of cleaning resources—namely, fewer vehicles, improved planning, and smarter deployment of operations.

Impact & Result

Figures mentioned on the description above. 2. Cleaner cities, cleaner rivers and oceans : Cortexia’s monitoring tools are designed to support municipalities in managing and reducing littering at the source and prevent pollutants from reaching rivers and oceans. 3. 3rd Party ESG Evaluation : Tobacco Litter Behavior with Our field analysis shows that users of heated tobacco products (tobacco sticks) are 3 times less likely to litter in public spaces compared to traditional cigarette smokers.

Cortexia’s solution for improving urban cleanliness while controlling costs is very promising. The City of Zurich is proud to have made a major contribution as a partner in this development. We are confident that this solution has the potential to be a useful and indispensable tool for cities around the world.
