Slovnaft, part of the MOL Group, began working with EcoTank in 2017 to improve service quality and reduce plastic waste at its fuel stations. The first installations took place at key locations in Bratislava and surrounding towns, where EcoTank units were installed directly on the refueling islands. The setup required no major construction and took only a few hours, allowing customers to refill windshield washer fluid easily during fuel stops—without using plastic canisters. The system’s simplicity, speed, and sustainability quickly resonated with both customers and station operators. Over the years, Slovnaft expanded the rollout in three phases, reaching 232 EcoTank units across 109 stations by 2024. The collaboration has led to increased washer fluid sales, improved customer experience, and the elimination of more than 280 000 kg of plastic packaging waste. EcoTank is now a key part of Slovnaft’s strategy to modernize services while supporting environmental goals.
EcoTank is installed at approx. 50% of all Slovnaft stations in Slovakia. Since the start of the collaboration, over 280,000 kg of plastic waste have been avoided. The customer-friendly, plastic-free service received positive feedback and led to a 30% increase in fluid sales—enhancing road safety by making refills more accessible.
EcoTank is a clean and simple way for drivers to refill windshield washer fluid directly at fuel stations, just like they fill up their fuel tanks. Instead of buying plastic canisters that are used once and thrown away, EcoTank lets people dispense only the amount they need—without any packaging waste. The system is easy to use, fully self-service, and already available at many petrol and charging stations across Europe and beyond. By removing the need for plastic containers, EcoTank helps reduce pollution, supports a circular economy, and makes sustainable choices more convenient for everyday motorists.
