Alzette Belval - Etablissement Public d'Aménagement
Alzette
The 5285 hectare Alzette Belval National Interest Operation (OIN), on the border of France and Luxembourg, is hosting a large-scale project with the construction of 8000 homes over the next 20 years. Given the amount of waste that will be generated on the construction sites (estimated at 1000 tons per year) and the logistical flows generated, the client wanted to rethink the organization of the construction sites to reduce the environmental impact of logistics and to improve the recovery rates of waste produced. Goal was to enable federating a maximum number of companies working on the sites and to improve the rates of waste sorting at source.
This large-scale project at the Alzette Belval National Interest Operation (OIN) has profound economic and environmental implications. By implementing a logistics management platform, a material library, and a concierge service, the initiative streamlines construction processes while fostering collaboration among companies involved. These measures aim to reduce waste generation and improve sorting rates, ensuring higher recovery rates for materials. Economically, this approach minimizes waste disposal costs, optimizes resource use, and reduces inefficiencies in logistical operations. Environmentally, it cuts down on transportation emissions, mitigates landfill dependency, and promotes circular economy principles, setting a benchmark for sustainable construction practices in large urban projects.
New Flow offers a whole service of building waste management, integrated logistics, and human resources, driven by the VALO’ group. On construction or wide-ranging rehabilitation sites, VALO' provides building companies access to mutualized facility management services to optimize their costs. The service gatherings will be constructed by, facility management on construction sites, an innovative New Flow app, online administrative assistance, engineering for waste source separation, and access to inclusive human resources. The solution aims to simplify logistics and waste management on a construction site, which is always an issue for construction companies because they are not specifically qualified for it. The benefits are reduction of CO2 emissions thanks to better logistics, more material reuse and less landfilling or incineration, and more inclusive jobs.
