In 2023, UIMM, part of one of France’s oldest employers’ trade unions, faced significant challenges in managing energy consumption due to inefficient thermal management in their Bruges facility. The offices, primarily heated by gas and distributed via air heaters, experienced considerable heat loss, particularly in areas of the building far from the south-facing façade. This led to high energy consumption and fluctuating indoor temperatures. To address these challenges, UIMM Bruges implemented the R’ Booster© solution, a building-integrated solar thermal innovation that enhances heating efficiency without replacing the existing system. Installed on the south-facing metal-clad façade, the R’ Booster© transforms this outer surface into a solar-powered radiator. It operates as an add-on to the gas boiler – reducing its load rather than replacing it. No heat pump was part of the original system, but the R’ Booster© is compatible with one, allowing for future upgrades.
In winter time, the system leads to a monthly saving of €350in gas costs. The system’s CAPEX is €200/m², also diffusing air in its absence. The estimated payback time is 5 years. The system led to a monthly consumption of energy reduction of 4.5 MWh - a 80% drop. By reducing energy consumption, the R’ Booster© system helps avoid 1.2 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent per month.
Installing R'Booster marked a decisive turning point for our building. Thanks to this solution, we have cut our energy costs while considerably improving the thermal comfort of our occupants. Indoor air quality is also much better, which enhances the well-being of our teams. R'Booster exceeds our expectations, both in terms of energy savings and our commitment to the environment.

R' Booster seeks to reduce the energy bill thanks to an innovative, efficient, reliable, durable hybrid solar solution with low manufacturing and operating costs. The solution helps provide long-lasting heat by transforming the walls of metal-clad buildings into a giant radiator using the sun. The system reduces the consumption of heating in winter, cooling in summer at night and drying drying agricultural food, wood, industrial waste, or sludge from sewage treatment plants. It adapts to all types of buildings both during construction or renovation. With a duration of 50 years, this solution produces at least 120 times more energy than it consumes. Customers can save up to 83% on energy bills while reducing their carbon footprint.
