In October 2023, Neygreneys Kindergarten in Toulouse, struggling with intense heat, turned to Demet'Air for a solution. We installed a 20-square-meter green wall to replace the heat-retaining facade, improving comfort and environmental impact. The green wall not only enhances aesthetics but also regulates temperature, purifies the air, and creates a soothing atmosphere. The project includes a self-sustaining water system with a rainwater-fed storage tank, ensuring optimal hydration for the plants. This innovative, reversible structure provides both functional and visual benefits, contributing to a greener, more comfortable environment for the students.
The temperature inside the kindergarten has been felt since day 1. However, for this kind of project, we have to wait at least one year to assess the results. Moreover, the more important data will be collected this summer.
Over the past decade, the technologies used in roof vegetation have not evolved. Namely logistics complications, such as the weight of traditional substrates, or the installation and maintenance of the green roofs. VG Holz aims to provide an all-in-one solution: green roof, installation of waterproofing, and IoT sensors to monitor the impact and performance of the green roof. VG Holz substrate is a new complex that, due to its density and physical characteristics, can be installed on almost all roofs. One of the main specificities of the product is its light substrate, renewable and fully compostable, 100% made in France. The solution also offers greening more urban areas and participating in the development of urban food autonomy through rooftop urban agriculture.
