Description

Caeterra and Decathlon France work together to implement sustainable biowaste management accessible to all! With the new regulations of the AGEC law, Decathlon set out to find a solution for sorting and recovering its bio-waste at all its sites in France. Our solutions are ideal for recovering small quantities of biowaste on site. Decathlon wanted a solution that was both economical and ecological, quick to implement and uniform across all its stores. In addition, the possibility of spreading the compost locally was not envisaged. This is why we organized a collection service in collaboration with Les Alchimistes collectors. Every three months, Alchimistes collects the bio-waste stored in our composters on all Decathlon sites nationwide. As a result, Decathlon now benefits from a nationwide, ecological, and innovative biowaste management offer, with a turnkey solution including the installation of a CAETERRA composter, employee training, low-frequency collection, and reporting.

Impact & Result

Each Decathlon site produces between 500 and 600 kg of bio-waste per year. By composting onsite, each site avoids 150 to 210 kg of CO2 equivalent per year (one tonne of bio-waste avoids between 300 and 350 kg of CO2 equivalent). With our solutions, Decathlon saves around €1,000 a year on bio-waste management. Indeed, the cost of a traditional collection is between €1,200 and €1,400 per year.

Solution Spotlight

The CAETERRA range of autonomous stirred composters is a concrete response to the challenges of composting in public spaces and professional environments. Thanks to its robust and durable design, its mixing aeration column and integrated dry matter tank, CAETERRA offers the first 100% mechanical composter, solving in a single object all the nuisances normally associated with composting (odors, rodents, maintenance workload). Using the composter is simple and effective, in just three steps and 15 seconds ! The COMPOST & COLLECT system makes it easy to collect compost, and transforms our composters into hygienic voluntary bio-waste storage points, so as to organize a low-frequency collection every 4 to 12 weeks, which is both more economical and more ecological. At CAETERRA, we rely on French know-how and quality materials. Our entire range is eco-designed and functional. Each installed product avoids the emission of several tons of greenhouse gases.
