Designed and implemented a collaborative model based on the participation of maritime stakeholders of the port for project funding. The port installs the solution to regenerate biodiversity, while the port community benefits of the data obtained to fulfill its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) objectives. Implementation: Requires appropriate space (particularly nonm operative areas in the port), proximity to stakeholders interested in mitigating their environmental impact, and our effective regeneration solution,with monitoring and verification system (MRV).
Expected Results: 50 LBU can generate in 10 years: 12-17 tons of biomass,7-9 tons of CO₂ sequestered,200-300% increase in biodiversity,Natural capital restoration valued at $3.5-5.5 million Benefits for the Port: Large-scale renaturalization, profitable use of non-operational spaces, early detection of invasive species, new services for the port community, and enhanced reputation. Ocean Ecostructures provides biomimetic microreefs named Life Boosting Units- (LBUs), specifically designed to be installed on marine infrastructures (ports, offshore platforms, subsea cabling,...). LBUs replicate how natural reefs work, combining a natural micro-fauna attraction system, nursery effect design (shelter areas), and natural calcium carbonate coating. OE uses ROVs, artificial intelligence, and advanced sensors to monitor LBUs impact (biodiversity, biomass, CDR,...). All this information is stored in a digital platform (iOceans) accessible to our customers, so that they can fulfill their ESG/Compliance, offsetting and social engagement needs. A solution aligned with standards such as CSRD, TNFD, contributing to sustainability efforts.
