Oslo, Norway, Wolt and Mobility Solutions
Oslo
Oslo has launched its first Mobility Hub to support the use of cargo bikes like the CityQ as alternatives to vans for city services. The hub offers essential services for cargo bike users, including battery swapping, maintenance, secure parking, and a dedicated rest area for drivers. It also provides shared storage for companies to easily reload products from vans to e-bikes. Acting as a demonstration center, the hub allows businesses to explore the car-free model while being linked to the Institute of Transport Economics (TOI) for research on scaling this sustainable solution. Key partners include Oslo Municipality, Mobility Solutions, and Wolt.
The project will make it easier for companies to shift from cars and vans towards cargo bikes. For each trip switched - there will be a 90% reduction in CO2 emission. And we believe this centre can document more benefits for both companies and cities.
CityQ is making a new type of year around smart bike as a platform for combined family and cargo bike. It is enabling the shift from car traffic to sustainable green transport in inner cities, with a speed up to 25km/h. The bike can be offered for sales, lease and rental and is given multiple life cycles as CityQ enables to use the bike for up to 8 years. Like EVs the technology and connectivity will replace mechanical drive train with software and do remote service and upgrades like Tesla and mobile phones. The solution contributes to the reduction of congestion, car traffic, pollution and CO2 emission.
