Ultimate Boats
Clydebank
Ultimate Boats, a UK-based boat manufacturer, has implemented DANU Composite Technology to build next-generation vessels with enhanced sustainability and performance. DANU is a patented recyclable composite made from basalt fibres and thermoplastic resin, replacing traditional glass-reinforced plastics that contribute to landfill waste and microplastic pollution. The project involved transitioning the hull and deck construction of high-performance RIBs to DANU, without compromising mechanical strength or safety. The boats are deployed by various maritime professionals, including law enforcement and commercial operators. Client feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with users noting the improved stiffness-to-weight ratio, ease of maintenance, and environmental responsibility.
DANU boats cut CO₂ emissions by 30% vs. glass/epoxy. Fully recyclable, they eliminate end-of-life waste and microplastic pollution. Improved strength-to-weight ratio enables material savings. Faster processing reduces energy use. As the only manufacturer with a true EOL solution, Ultimate Boats gains a clear advantage in winning sustainability-driven tenders.
DANU is an innovative composite technology based on natural fibres and free from hazardous substances such as styrene, cobalt salts, BPA, and boric acid. Unlike traditional fibre-reinforced plastics, which are typically landfilled or incinerated at end-of-life, DANU is fully circular. It can be recycled repeatedly without any loss of mechanical performance. This unique recyclability is made possible through the use of a thermoplastic resin system, allowing for true cradle-to-cradle applications. In addition to its environmental benefits, DANU offers excellent mechanical properties, is lightweight, scalable in production, and cost-competitive with conventional glass fibre composites. It serves as a high-performance alternative for industries such as wind energy, automotive, marine, and construction, where sustainability and mechanical performance must go hand in hand.
